I liked the movie. I liked it because I liked the love story between the two main characters Genji and Ine. Ine was a very weak-willed person and did some very morally questionable things, but then there was always that true love she always felt for her husband Genji. So through all the ups and down and all the bad spells, I still held out hope for Ine and Genji. On the other hand, the movie is very confusing as noted in my warning at the top of the summary of the film.
I was often confused about who was who among the more minor characters and this was a bit irritating. But the love story kept me going.
